Synopsis

Today, more and more companies are looking for new ways to maximize business value and increase its strategic and operational efficiency. Companies try to use hidden resources that contribute to achieving strategic goals. Among these types of resources, the so-called "non-financial" capital (social, intellectual, natural, etc.) is particularly highlighted, due to which the company creates value. Approaches that measure and, most importantly, manage this type of resource are often based on fundamental concepts. One of the most popular concepts used by companies today is the concept of sustainable development. The concept of sustainable development from the business point of view is traditionally perceived in the context of corporate and social responsibility. Companies often do not distinguish between these concepts, which leads to an erroneous understanding of the concept, when companies consider sustainable development solely as a kind of obligation to society, a tool for managing reputational risks, and as a compulsory measure imposed by the state.
